Graduate Programs in Mathematics
|
The University of Rhode
Island offers programs leading to an M.S. or a Ph.D. degree in Mathematics
or Applied Mathematical Sciences. The Mathematics Department's research
areas include Difference Equations, Combinatorics, Numerical Solution of
PDE's, Control Theory, and Analysis. We welcome promising students of
mathematics from any undergraduate major who have the requisite minimum
background in mathematics. Our individualized programs of studies, in
addition to courses in mathematics, may include courses in computer
science, engineering, and other applied areas. Most of our graduate
students are supported by Teaching Assistantships which involve classroom
teaching in a progressive undergraduate program with increasing use of
modern computer technology. Our
graduate students praise the friendly and supportive atmosphere of the
department.
The University of Rhode Island is located in a scenic resort area of
Southern New England with easy access to Providence, Boston, and New York.
