Mustafa Kulenovic

Biography

Mustafa R. S. Kulenovic, Ph.D. a mathematics professor at the University of Rhode Island, has more than 40 years of experience working in academic settings and has served as the chairperson of the Department of Mathematics of University of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina for 3 years. In December 2012 he became a Member of the Academy of Sciences of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. He has published two books and 194 journal articles in the areas of differential equations and difference equations as well as some software packages. He also edited one book published by Springer. Professor Kulenovic served as major professor for eight Master students and twenty five PhD students. He also served as co-advisor for seven PhD students. He also served on the PhD committees of more than 10 Masters and more than 45 PhD students. His research results are widely cited and he has more than 1600 citations in MathSciNet and more than 2500 citations in Scopus. He also has more than 7000 citations in Google Scholar with an h-index of 40. Some of his papers are among the top one percent of the papers by citation in mathematics in the period  2000-2015.

Professor Kulenovic has presented several lectures in major conferences on difference and differential equations held in the United States, Canada and Europe. He was twice an invited speaker for the World Congress of Mathematicians in 1990 and 1994. Professor Kulenovic was or is a Member of the Editorial Board of ten international mathematical journals. He was the Co-organizer of ten Special Sessions of the AMS Annual Meetings and the co-organizer of ten Special Sessions of the AMS Regional Meetings. Since 1999, he delivered more than 45 talks in different international conferences and 20 invited talks in different universities. He won different awards for research excellence.
