2^nd URI Calc-Bowl
Math Competition

Calc-bowl is a lively playoff competition between teams where the questions are multiple-choice pre-calculus and calculus questions, designed to test the teams' math knowledge. There will be 10-15 teams with a maximum of 5 members per team allowed. One multiple choice problem (sample problem) will be presented at a time. The first team to buzz in, gets to answer the problem. There will be several rounds of play and a final playoff for first place. Calc-Bowl Flyer

2007 1st Calc-Bowl Results 1st place The team, Zorn's Lemon, took first place in the competition. Its members, Elizabeth Kemp, LaSalle Academy '07; Mike Axiak, Massachusetts Institute of Technology '09; Daniel Valmas, Shea High School '07; and Kian Shenfield, Rhode Island College '09; each took home a $100 gift certificate to URI's bookstore!
2nd place North Kingstown High team, the Douganators, named after coach Karen Dougan. Team members, Mike Marshall, Kelly Huang, Raena Morley, Kelsey Wiggin, and Bill Settes-Rundlett, took home $50 gift certificates to URI's bookstore.

Time: 3:00pm - 6:00pm
Location: Cherry Auditorium, Kirk Building, URI Kingston Campus.
Maps and Directions

• All team members must be students in Rhode Island. (Rhode Island High School, College, or University)
• Minimum mathematical experience: Calculus I (e.g. equivalent of URI math 131 or math 141)
• Maximum mathematical experience: Calculus II (e.g. equivalent of URI math 132 or math 142)
• Not open to students who have taken or currently taking advanced mathematical courses. (e.g. equivalent of URI math 243, or any URI math 300/400 course)
