Discussion Topic (Sakai-> Forums)

  • After reading the chapter on identification numbers, do you see any application in the health care system? Should health care make greater use of check digits? Use the facts in the book about check digits. Should we have a Universal Health Identification Number (UHID) for each person? Congress seemed to think so. That requirement was part of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). The concept is quite controversial. What do you think?
  • Discussion for Chapter 16 will open at 12:00 am Saturday Nov. 7.
  • You are required to participate in the discussion boards.
  • Discussion topic will end at 11:55 pm Sunday Nov. 22.
