1/21

  • Welcome to Math 243.  Remember to read each day's section and TRY some exercises BEFORE you come to class; this will prepare you to get the most out of each day's lecture and raise questions in your mind that you can ask in class.
  • The six Maple projects will count as six additional quizzes; the "Instructor's assignments" portion of your grade will be computed by taking the average quiz percentage score (after throwing out the lowest individual score) and multiplying by 200.

1/24

  • I would appreciate it, if each of you would email me with a little info about yourself, so that I can get to know you.  Stuff like, how long you have been at URI, where you're from, things you are involved with, and your feelings about math and math courses all would be helpful for me to know about.  If you have time during my office hours, feel free to stop in and just chat sometime.  If you start to feel at all uncomfortable with the course material, PLEASE arrange to come and see me as soon as possible; I am available by appointment outside of my office hours, as well.
  • The first Maple assignment is due in my email-box by 7 AM next Thursday morning; look at it early, so you can ask questions on Tuesday.
  • Remember to read Section 12.3 before coming to class Tuesday and try some of the problems!
