Section 1.1 - Systems of Linear Equations | Section 1.2 - Row Reduction and Echelon Form |
Many introductory definitions and foundational concepts are presented. Defining a linear systems, types of solutions, row equivalence, and the most important of all the three elementary row operations. The three elementary row operations will be used throughout the course and are critical to master. | Students learn the echelon format of a matrix that used throughout the course. The pivot positions in matrix will play an essential role in getting a matrix into echelon form. The concept of basic and free variables is critical for solving linear systems. Students learn how to solve linear systems with infinite number of solutions. |
