Transformations of a Square:
A Flash Tutorial
by Doug Ensley, James Hamblin and Barbara Kaskosz

This tutorial guides the user through the creation of a simple Flash applet that illustrates transformations on a square. In this tutorial, the user will learn how to draw on the stage, transform graphic objects into active movie clips, create radio buttons and combo boxes, and write scripts that change the color of clips based on mouse interactions. The tutorial is now also available in video format!

Try playing with the active version of the applet below to get a sense for what you will be building.

This tutorial is available in the compressed folder square_tutorial.zip and also through a series of videos. In either case, it is useful to download the compressed folder and open the file square_transform_tutorial.pdf.

To use this tutorial, no previous experience with Flash is necessary, but the user must have a copy of the Flash authoring environment to make use of this tutorial. A free 30-day trial version is available from the Adobe web site, http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/flashpro/
