Spring 2008

MTH 132 Applied Calculus II

Section 2

MWF 10-10:50

Washburn 220

Math 132 is the second semester of the calculus sequence intended primarily for students in the life sciences.  It is different from the four-credit calculus sequence, MTH 141-142, designed for students in the physical sciences, engineering, and math.  The emphasis in MTH 131-132 will be on the theory and interpretation of calculus in numerical, graphical, and algebraic terms. The authors of the textbook have gone to great lengths to fill the book with many exciting examples that illustrate how calculus is involved in real life settings. The main topics of the course are integration and applications, probability, multidimensional calculus, and geometric series.

Syllabus

Important Changes to the Syllabus!

The Final Exam will be broken up into three parts, corresponding to the material found on the three in class exams. If a student does better on the corresponding part of the exam than on the in class exam, then the grade of the in class exam will be replaced by the percentage of the part on the final.

Students recieving grades over 90 on all three in class exams can be excused from the final, and will automatically recieve the average of their three in class exams for the final exam grade.

Please see me if there are any questions concerning this change to the syllabus.

Check here for solutions to the in class quizzes as well as other files that you may wish to download.
